Four killed, one serious injured in traffic accident in Gorno Badakhshan

Four persons were killed and one other was seriously injured as a vehicle fell into a river in the Ishkashim district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

According to the Interior Ministry’ website, the fatal accident took place on July 20 at 12:30 on the Ishkashim-Langar-Tuskul road between the villages of Vrang and Nizhgar.

The 28-year-old resident of the village of Yamg, Nozim Malikmamadov, lost control of his Hyundai-Galloper and it fell into the Panj River.

As a result of the accident, four persons – Gulmamad Savlatov, 65, his son Sanavbar Savlatov, 37, Abdulammad Savlatov, 59, and Gulbogh Saibekova, 59 – died in hospital from injuries they sustained in the accident. 

Another passenger – Alovat Soliyev, 45 – also sustained serious injuries and he is currently in hospital in critical condition. 

The driver was not injured, the Interior Ministry’s website says. 

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
