The Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan has explained the reason for absence of tourism data in its latest report on the socioeconomic situation in Tajikistan.

“The fact is that in accordance with the program of statistical works, tourism statistics are published quarterly, not monthly,” an official source at the Agency for Statistics told Asia-Plus today morning.

Recall, Asia-Plus yesterday published a report which says that the Agency for Statistics has removed tourism section from its monthly report.  The tourism section appeared in the Agency’s monthly report in June this year but now it has gone.

Meanwhile, Tajik media outlets have questioned figures for the number of feorign tourists visiting Tajikistan several times.
