District police stations in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent have received buses quipped with an automatic facial scanning system that allow to pick out persons from the crowd in real time, according to Fergana news agency.

These buses are also equipped with GPS system that allow policemen to see where service vehicle are located and give them information about offenses committed nearby.

A facial recognition system is a technology capable of identifying or verifying a person from a digital image or a video frame from a video source.  While initially a form of computer application, it has seen wider uses in recent times on mobile platforms and in other forms of technology, such as robotics. It is typically used as access control in security systems and can be compared to other biometrics such as fingerprint or eye iris recognition systems.
