Over the first six months of this year, gold, silver and semiprecious metals have accounted for nearly 22 percent of Tajikistan’s exports, according to Tajikistan Trade Portal.  

Over the report period, the share of ores in the country’s exports was 26 percent, aluminum – 16.1 percent, cotton fiber – 13.9 percent, electric power – 7.0 percent; cement – 5.9 percent, fruits and vegetables – 1.4 percent.  

Tajikistan’s exports reportedly decreased from 1.198 billion U.S. dollars in 2017 to 1.074 billion in 2018.  

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, exports of goods over the first nine months of this year have amounted to 768.3 million U.S. dollars, 5.0 percent or 40.4 million U.S. dollars fewer than in the same period last year 

Over the same nine-month period, imports of goods into the country have amounted to 2.390 billion U.S. dollars, which was 3.1 percent or 72.1 million U.S. dollars more than in the same period last year.

The trade balance over the report period was negative and amounted to 1.621.7 billion U.S. dollars.

In January-September this year, the major partners for Tajikistan’s exports were Turkey – 21.8 percent, Uzbekistan – 17.8 percent, and Switzerland – 16.2 percent.
