Two companies belonging to the family of Agroinvestbonk head Murodali Alimardonov now owe 1.5 million somoni (TJS) head to the Jomi district’s budget, head of the Jomi district (Khatlon province) Yoqub Saidzoda told reporters on February 14 while explaining the reasons why the district had failed to fulfill its tax collection target in 2019.

Along with other reasons, untimely payment of taxes by the Closed Joint-Stock Company (JSC) Barakati Jomi, which belongs to the Alimardonov, has also affected the tax collection results, Saidzoda said.

“By government’s resolution some 800 hectares of lands in our district have been attached to CJSC Barakati Jomi as a seed farming unit to provide the country with top cotton seed varieties.  Zotparvari LLC has been established inside Barakati Jomi and their total area is 1,200 hectares.  Unfortunately, they have leased these lands and do not pay taxes and for irrigation water.  The companies now owe 1.5 million somoni to the district budget and 240,000 somoni to the district land management directorate,” the district head said.

Fakhriddin Ghafourov, the head of the Jomi land management and water supply directorate, backed Saidzoda up.

“We have filed lawsuit over untimely payment of taxes by the companies in Khatlon Economic Court and it upheld our lawsuit.  However, CJSC Barakati Jomi has not complied with the court decision,” Ghafourov said.
