A total wage debts rose to 48.536 million somoni (equivalent to some 5 million USD) in a year to February 29, 2020, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

In February this year alone, the country’s wage debts rose 5.1 percent or more than 2.3 million somoni.

The highest wage debt has been reported in the real sector of the economy – 45.7 million somoni, with 13.8 million somoni debt registered in the mining sector, 12.6 million somoni debt registered in the construction sector, transport and storage sector – 10.5 million somoni, processing industry – 6.1 million somoni, an agrarian sector – 2.7 million somoni.    

As of February 29, 2020, the minimum wage in the country amounted to 400 somoni.  

In Tajikistan, the lowest average monthly wage has been reported in the agrarian sector – 616 somoni.

The highest average monthly wage has reportedly been in the financial sector – 3,309 somoni. 

In the communications sector, an average monthly wage has amounted to 2,650, and in the construction sector – 2,411 somoni.   

An average monthly nominal wage in Tajikistan in February this year was 1,347 somoni (equivalent to US$139 at the February exchange rate).
