171 new confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported in Tajikistan as of May 24, bringing a total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 3,100.

1,395 people have reportedly recovered as of May 24, 94 cases more than on May23.

Meanwhile, no COVID-19-linked deaths were reported on May 24.  As of May24, the number of COVID-19-linked cases remained the same – 46.  

Recall, more than 50 of 194 Tajik nationals carried from Turkey to Tajikistan by Turkish Airlines on May 23 have reportedly tested positive for the new coronavirus. 

“More than 50 of us carried from Istanbul to Dushanbe by special flight of Turkish Airlines on May 23 tested positive for COVID-19,” one of passengers told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, all of them were taken to the Hoji Obi Garm resort center in the Varzob district, and those more than 50 people were isolated from them.  “”The majority of them have no any COVID-19 symptoms,” the source said.  

Meanwhile, Sputnik Tajikistan, citing its sources, says only two of 70 Tajik nationals carried by a special flight of Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Dushanbe have tested positive for COVID-19.
