A judge at the Hisor city court has been arrested on suspicion of taking bribe, according to the press center of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption.

Judge Zaidullo Sobirzoda reportedly demanded 30,000 somoni from local resident for commutation of sentence.

The corrupt judge was caught red-handed while taking 20,000 somoni from the resident.

The anticorruption agency says criminal proceedings have been instituted against Sobirzoda under the provisions of Article 310 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – acceptance of bribe; n investigation is under way.  He faces up to five years in prison.
