Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan opened their borders to each other’s citizens on September 1, with some conditions.  Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s common borders with these countries remain closed.

Uzbekistan and Kyrg.zstan lifted restrictions on the entry and exit of vehicles and citizens on September 1, says Uzbekistan’s Republican Commission on COVID-19 Response.

The restrictions have been lifted with some conditions.   “Cross-border travel without having to undergo mandatory quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic will be allowed for citizens whose stay in Kyrgyzstan does not exceed 14 days or they have negative coronavirus test completed within the last three days.  Citizens of Uzbekistan who stayed only in the territory of Kyrgyzstan are also not subject to quarantine control while entering Uzbek territory,” the Republican Commission on COVID-19 Response notes.

Kyrgyzstan’s Republican Headquarters on COVID-19 Response had earlier named the countries whose citizens can enter Kyrgyzstan.  Among them are Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Portugal, Turkey, Switzerland, Sweden, Qatar, the United Aram Emirates, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Pakistan, Slovenia, Kuwait and Japan.

According to the Kyrgyz border service, there are five border crossing points (BCPs) along Kyrgyzstan’s common border with Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s common borders with Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan remain closed.  The Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan says the issue of opening border with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan has not been discussed so far.
