A 30-year-old woman from Kushoniyon (formerly Bokhtar) district in Khatlon province suffering from mental illness killed her four young children and then came to local police station  and told about the committed crime.

“The tragedy took place in the Oriyon jamoat of the Kushoniyon district on September 9.  A 30-year-old Nazokat Toirova suffering from mental illness killed her for young children by strangulation and then came to the local police station and told about the crime,” a source within the Interior Ministry told Asia-Plus Thursday (September 10) afternoon.

A source within the Khatlon Police Department says criminal proceedings have been instituted against Nazokat Toirova under the provisions of Article 104 (Part 2, Points A, C, and E) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code — killing of two and more persons, killing of young person or a person known to be in a helpless state, and brutal murder.  An investigation is under way.

The source added that Nazokat’s mother was sentenced to 20 years in 2005 for killing her husband and one more man.
