Confirmed COVID-19 cases have surpassed 56 million globally, with over 1.3 million fatalities and more than 35 million recoveries, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University published on November 19.

Coronavirus has the highest number of registered cases and deaths in the United States.  The total number of infections in the United States reportedly surpassed 11.4 million, as the country's death toll surpassed 250,000. 

India ranks second in the world in terms of coronavirus cases, with 131,618 deaths and more than 8.9 million cases of the virus.

The total number of deaths from coronavirus in Brazil is 166,600 and more than 5.9 million people are affected.

In France, 2.1 million people were reportedly affected and 46,700 lost their lives.

Russia is fifth in the number of infections reported, with 2,015,608, behind the United States, India, Brazil and France.

Russia on Thursday surpassed 2 million coronavirus cases after reporting an additional 23,610 infections and 463 deaths related to COVID-19, both record daily rises.  Russia's official death toll now stands at 34,850.

According to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) dashboard, confirmed COVID-19 cases have surpassed two million across the African continent on Thursday.

The total death has reportedly reached 48,408, according to the tally while over 1.7 million patients have recovered. 

Meanwhile, China’s National Health Commission announced on Thursday that the Chinese mainland registered 12 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, all from overseas.

A total of 10 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were recorded, while 419 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation. No COVID-19-related deaths were reported on Wednesday, and 22 patients were discharged from hospitals.

As of Wednesday, the total confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 86,381, with 4,634 fatalities.
