A 33-year-old resident of Yovon district, Urazmat Qaraqulov has got a lengthy jail term for killing his pregnant wife out of jealousy.

The Khatlon regional court sentenced Urazmat Qaraqulov to 22 years in prison on February 23.  He will serve his term in a high-security penal colony.    

According to the materials of the criminal case, the quarrel between the spouses was caused by jealousy.  Urazmat Qaraqulov suspected that his wife was cheating on him with his uncle Murodali Qaraqulov.  

On November 27, 2020, a 33-year-old wife of Qaraqulov, Bibikhol Bobojonova, who was in the second month of pregnancy, stated during a family quarrel that the child was not from Urazmat but from his uncle Murodali Qaraqulov.  

This got Urazmat Qaraqulov on edge and he inflicted three stab wounds on his wife.  Bibikhol Bobojonova died on the spot.   

The court also decided to give three children of this family to be raised by the brother of the deceased.
