The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, Lieutenant-General Emomali Sobirzoda, who is also the Frist Deputy Minister of Defense of Tajikistan, yesterday met in Moscow with his Russian counterpart, Army General Valery Gerasimov.

According to the press center of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation, the two exchanged views on the state and prospects of further expansion of military and technical cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan.

Sobirzoda and Gerasimov reportedly also discussed issues related to the functioning of the Russian military bas deployed in Tajikistan.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 18th session of the Military Committee of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) that took place in Moscow on the same day.
