Uzbek authorities plan to extend the term of stay of Tajiks in Uzbekistan without registration from three to ten days.

The governments of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan plan to make amendments to the government-to-government agreement on mutual travels of citizens of the two countries of March 9, 2018.

A draft protocol to this agreement stipulates that the term of stay of citizens of the two countries without registration is extended from three to ten days.

Amendments to the government-to-government between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are expected to be made during an official visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan, which is scheduled for June 10-12, 2021.

Currently, Tajikistanis, like other foreigners, can stay in Uzbekistan without registration for up to three days.  These regulations require the foreigner to have a valid registration by the morning of the third business day of their presence in Uzbekistan.

Recall, the new border regulations signed between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2018 allow Tajik and Uzbek citizens to visit each other’s countries without visas for up to 30 days.
