By Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s decree Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is currently on his official visit to Tajikistan, has been awarded the Order of Zarrintoj (Gold Crown) of I degree.

The award ceremony took place in Dushanbe at the Kokhi Borbad State Complex during the concert, called “Shomi Dousti” (The Evening of Friendship) dubbed.

President Emomali Rahmon bestowed the order on his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.  

The Tajik president’s official website says Mirziyoyev was awarded the highest state award of Tajikistan “for services in strengthening interstate relations, expanding friendly and good-neighborly relations between the Tajik and Uzbek peoples and expanding economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.”

To-date, only four persons have been awarded the Order of Zarrintoj, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev is the second foreign national awarded this highest state award of Tajikistan. 

The Order of Zarrintoj (Gold Crown) is divided into three grades: I degree – The badge of the order is worn on a ribbon over the right shoulder and the star of the order on the left side of the chest; II degree – It has a sign that is worn by males on a ribbon around the neck and females on a ribbon bow on the left side of the chest; III degree – It has a sign that is worn on a ribbon on the left side of the chest.

Currently, notable awardees include: Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev – former Mayor of Dushanbe also Speaker of the Majlisi Milli (January 13, 2017), Xi Jinping – President of the People's Republic of China (June 15, 2019), Shukurjon Zuhurov – former Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (August 29, 2019), Shavkat Mirziyoyev – President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
