A lightning strike has killed a man in Romit jamoat (village communities or the third-level administrative division, similar to communes or municipalities), which is subordinate to Vahdat Township.  

The Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan says a lighting struck an 18-year-old resident of Novak village in Romit jamoat who was grazing livestock.  The man died on the spot.

The tragedy reportedly took place in the evening of July 13 at 6:05 pm.

On the same day, heavy rains caused a series of mudflows in some mountain regions of the country.

Thus, mudflows caused by torrential rain Tuesday afternoon, at 1:05 pm, damaged seven households and sixteen private plots in Shujand village, Rushan district in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) and blocked the road in the administrative center of Rushan district.  No injured was reported, according to the source.   

On the same day, at around 2:30 pm, a mudflow affected the village of Dahagiyon in Mujikharv jamoat in Nourobod district (Rasht Valley in eastern Tajikistan).  The mudflow reported partially damaged five households and arable lands.  No injured was reported, according to the Emergencies Committee.

Another mudflow that affected Nourobod district destroyed 65 meters of rural road connecting Saidon and Tugak villages and destroyed two bridges.  No injured was reported.   

In Ayni and Kuhistoni Mastchoh districts in the northern province of Sughd, rainfall reportedly increased water levels in the Zarafshon River.  Flood blocked some rural roads in the area.  No injured was reported.    

To-date, the consequences of the disasters have been eliminated, there are no casualties, the Emergencies Committee said Wednesday afternoon.
