Almost 1,700 kilos of narcotic drugs seized in Tajikistan in H1, 2021

Over the first six months of this year, officers of the Drug Control Agency have seized 200.593 kilograms of narcotic drugs, which was 68.936 kilograms more than in the same period last year, DCA director, Major-General Habibullo Vohidzoda, told reporters in Dushanbe on July 15.

A totaled reportedly included 3.873 kilograms of heroin, 32.554 kilograms of raw opium, 127.439 kilograms of hashish, 1.807 kilograms of cannabis, 34.920 kilograms of powerful psychoactive substances in the form of powder and synthetic tablets (2,434 pieces). 

Over the reporting period, the counternarcotics agency has solved 104 drug-related crimes, which was 24 cases or 30 percent more than in the same period last year, Vohidzoda said.

In January-June 2020, the Drug Control Agency reportedly solved 80 drug-related crimes.  

In all, 1,695.65 kilograms of narcotic drugs have been seized by Tajik law enforcement agencies over the first six months of this year, which was 510.2 kilograms or 43 percent more than in January-June last year, Tajik drug control chief said.

Of this amount, 819.12 kilograms were seized by the Interior Ministry (2020 – 543.4 kilograms), 662.6 kilograms were seized by the State Committee for National Security (2020 – 488.1 kilograms), 11.5 kilograms sized were seized by the anticorruption agency (2020 – 1.5 kilograms), and little more than 1 kilogram were seized by the Customs Service (2020 – 20.6 kilograms).
