Over the first seven months of this year, the foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan has amounted to 3.550 billion U.S. dollars, which was 44.7 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.  

In January-July this year, the trade balance was negative and amounted to 885 million U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods in January-July have reportedly amounted to 1.333 billion U.S. dollars, which is which is almost twice as much as in the same period last year.  

Over the reporting period, precious and semiprecious stones and metals were the major item of Tajikistan’s exports — 53 percent.  In January-July Tajikistan has reportedly exported 709 million US dollars’ worth of these products, which was 2.3 times more than in the same period last year. 

Imports of goods into the country over the same seven-month period have reportedly amounted to 2.218 billion U.S. dollars, which was 27 percent more than in January-July last year.

The main items of Tajikistan’s imports were mineral products – 16.7 percent, machinery and equipment – 15.8 percent, base metals and products from them – 10.5 percent, finished food products – 9.4 percent, products of chemical industry – 8.8 percent, vehicles – 8.6 percent, etc.   

Over the first seven months this year, Tajikistan had trade relations with 112 countries, including ten CIS member nations.

Over the reporting period, major trading partners of Tajikistan were: Switzerland – 723 million U.S. dollars (a two-way trade turnover); Kazakhstan – 643 million U.S. dollars, Russia – 640 million U.S. dollars, China – 452 million U.S. dollars, and Uzbekistan – 243 million U.S. dollars.
