A 19-year-old resident of Bobojon-Ghafourov district in the northern province of Sughd has been detained on suspicion of killing his farther, the Interior Ministry’s press center reports.  

The tragedy took place on November 29.  According to the preliminary investigation, the young man inflicted seven stab wounds on his 47-year-old father following family quarrel.  The man died on the spot.

The alleged patricide has been detained and criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 104 (1) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – murder; an investigation is under way.  

According to official statistical data, the number of cases of murder and attempted murder reported in the country in January-October this year has increased by 11 percent compared to the same period last year
