Fourteen avalanches hit the Dushanbe-Chanak highway yesterday blocking the road in some places, the Branch of Innovative Road Solutions (IRS) LTD in Tajikistan, which operates the toll on this highway, reports.

The highway is temporarily closed for traffic as the work on clearing it of snow is still going on.

According to the IRS Branch, the biggest avalanche, which was over 15 meters high and about 300 meters wide, hit the 65th kilometer of the highway.

After clearing the section of the highway from 62nd to 73rd km, 25 vehicles that got stuck there were allowed into Dushanbe, the IRS Branch press center says.

The Branch of Innovative Road Solutions LTD in Tajikistan is an internationally held and managed company.  Innovative Road Solutions LTD was registered in British Virgin Islands in 2009.

Six toll-collection points (plaza) now operate on the Dushanbe-Chanak highway.
