Nearly 230 kilograms heroin have been found hidden in a Tajik truck detained in Uzbekistan.

The press center of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said yesterday that Uzbek customs officers at the Aibek border crossing point (BCP) on the Tajik-Uzbek border found 232 packages of narcotic drug hidden in cotton fiber bales while checking a truck coming from Tajikistan.  

The narcotic drug reportedly tested positive to heroin weighing 229.719 kilograms.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted over the above fact and an investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan neither denied nor confirmed this report.
