Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Marat Husnullin, has explained why labor migrants are better than Russians.  According to him, they work more while get paid less.

At the same time, he called for the use of foreign builders at Russian construction sites on condition of the development of strict legislation in this area.

Husnullin made such a statement in the State Duma (Russia’s lower chamber of parliament) on Wednesday, RBC says.

“I am talking about civilized, organized migration under tight control.  Let's pass tough legislation to protect ourselves from all the negative aspects associated with migration.  This topic requires a lot of study and it is very multifaceted,” the vice-premier stated.

“In the future, it will take several years to determine the labor resources — this is the return of compatriots from abroad, and retraining, and cheap labor,” he noted.

“Let’s face it, a migrant works 50% more than Russian and earns 30% less.  Let's make a decision and work without migrants, then let's bring the average salary of builders to the national average salary, increase productivity, and this is a system investment.  As we make decisions, so be it,” Husnullin.

"Let's make a decision to work without migrants, but then let's decide how we will cope without them,” the vice-premier summed up.

At the same time, he is convinced that the rejection of cheap labor will affect the cost of goods and services for consumers.

Husnullin had previously stated that lack of migrants in Russia is one of the main reasons for rising house prices.
