Resident of Panj district in Khatlon province, Muhammad Isanqulov, has been detained on suspicion of killing his 78-year-old father, the press center of the Interior Ministry’s Directorate for Khatlon province says.

The 78-year-old resident of the village of Somoniyon in Namoun jamoat, Avaz Boustonov, was reportedly killed on June 7. 

As a result of operational activities undertaken by local police, son of the late Avaz Boustonov, Muhammad Isanqulov, was detained on suspicion of committing that crime.  

“According to the suspect, he and his father drank and he hit his father on the head with a hammer following quarrel.   Then he dealt a few more blows with the hammer on the hands and feet of his father,” the Interior Ministry’s Directorate for Khatlon province says.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Muhammad Isanqulov under the provisions of Article 104 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – murder.  

It is to be noted that Isanqulov was previously convicted under Article 141 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code —   sexual intercourse and other sexual activities with a person under the age of sixteen.
