Over the first five months of this year, Tajikistan external trade turnover over the same five-month period has amounted to more than 2.7 billion U.S. dollars, which is 44 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics.

In January-May this year, the trade balance was negative ad amounted to more than 1 billion U.S. dollars.

Over the same five-month period, the top imports of Tajikistan were: fuels — 368.5 million U.S. dollars; cereals — 115 million U.S. dollars; ferrous metals and products from them — 178 million U.S. dollars; motor cars and other motor vehicles –149.8 million U.S. dollars; reactors and boilers 142.3 million U.S. dollars; electric equipment — 82.4 million U.S. dollars; plastics and products from them — 77.5 million U.S. dollars; timber — 71.1 million U.S. dollars; vegetable oils — 70.7 million U.S. dollars; pharmaceutical products — 67.8 million U.S. dollars

In January-May this year, the top exports of Tajikistan were: precious metals and gems — 363 million U.S. dollars; ores – 276.5 million U.S. dollars; raw cotton and cotton fiber – 145.8 million U.S. dollars; primary aluminum – 81.8 million U.S. dollars; and metals – 45.5 million U.S. dollars.

Over the reporting period, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 99 countries of the world. 

In January-May this year, major trading partners of Tajikistan were: Russia – more than 610 million U.S. dollars (a two-way trade turnover); China – 550 million U.S. dollars; Kazakhstan – 545 million U.S. dollars; Uzbekistan – 212 million U.S. dollars; and Turkey – 150 million U.S. dollars.
