Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have signed an agreement on training of military personnel for Tajikistan’s armed forces at higher military institutions in Uzbekistan.  

Tajik Defense Minister Sherali Mirzo heading a Tajik official military delegation has paid an official visit to Uzbekistan.

The press center of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan says, Uzbek Defense Minister Bakhodir Kurbanov received Tajik delegation on August 9. 

During the meeting, the ministers reportedly noted that not only political, economic and cultural cooperation but also military and security cooperation between the two countries “has risen to an unprecedented level.”  

Uzbek defense minister expressed confidence that military cooperation between the two countries would expand further. 

The meeting reported ended with signing of an additional contract on organization of training of military personnel for Tajikistan’s armed forces at Uzbekistan’s higher military institutions.  

After that, a study visit was organized for Tajik delegation to the Uzbekistan National Defense Management Center.
