To date, about 80 thousand tons of cotton have been harvested in Tajikistan, which is slightly more than 18% of forecasts, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the country reportsа

According to the agency, about 67 thousand tons of cotton were harvested in the Khatlon region, more than 12 thousand tons in the Sughd region, and about 600 tons in the regions of republican subordination.

Cotton picking continues throughout the country. For 1 kg of raw cotton, harvested by hand during the first harvest, this year 0.8 – 1 somoni will be paid, during the second harvest 1.2 – 1.5 somoni. Private households set their own fees.

This year, 186 thousand hectares of cotton were to be sown in the republic. However, according to statistics, 181 thousand 541 hectares of land were sown with cotton in cotton-growing cities and districts of the republic: in Sogd – 57.2 thousand hectares, in Khatlon – almost 121.7 thousand hectares, in RRS – 2.7 thousand hectares.

According to the plan, 425 thousand tons of cotton should be harvested in the republic this year.
