The Main Department for the Execution of Criminal Punishments (MDECP) at the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan is offering a reward of up to 50,000 somonis (TJS) for information leading to the identification or location of the jailbreak fugitive Ahmadbek Saidov.  

An official source within the Ministry of Justice told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon that the 35-year-old Ahmadbek Saidov escaped from Dushanbe-based pretrial detention facility No 1 on the night of August 18-19 and he has not yet been caught.

He refrained from giving further details.  

Meanwhile, according to some sources, an employee of the pretrial detention facility, Idibek Muhtojev, has been detained on suspicion of being involved in Saidov’s escape.  

Ahmadbek Saidov and twelve other persons were extradited from Russia to Tajikistan early August this year.

Recall, Saidov is charged with robbery and theft of 86,250 somonis in Danghara, Khatlon province, in 2007.
