Murodjon Mahmadullo, the head of the agency for outdoor advertising and urban improvement in the city if Kulob, has been detained on suspicion of misappropriation, embezzlement and official forgery.  

The press center of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption says Mahmadullo  has taken 184,000 somonis from the agency budget for his own needs.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 245 – embezzlement or misappropriation; and Article 323 – official forgery.  An investigation is under way.  

If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
