Issue related to accepting accommodating possible refugees were discussed here yesterday at a meeting of Mr. Rustam Nazarzoda, the Head of the Emergencies Committee under the Government Tajikistan, with a delegation of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) led by Ms. Annika Hampson, the Manager of the Norwegian Program of Assistance to Refugees in Afghanistan, according to the Emergencies Committee press center.

The parties reportedly discussed issues of emergency supplies for refugees stored in warehouses located in Tajikistan districts bordering Afghanistan.

During the meeting, Ms. Hampson noted that effective implementation of the tasks can be achieved only through close cooperation.

The parties reportedly also discussed prospects of further expansion of cooperation.

Tajik Emergencies Committee chief briefed the NRC delegation members on activities of the Emergencies Committee and international cooperation in preventing and liquidating disaster consequences.

The Norwegian Refugee Council is a humanitarian, non-governmental organization that protects the rights of people affected by displacement.  This includes refugees and internally displaced persons who are forced to flee their homes as a result of conflict, human rights violations and acute violence, as well as climate change and natural disasters.
