Staff negotiations to discuss issues related to organizing and conducting joint military exercises this year took place at the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) United Staff on March 28-30.
Senior representatives from relevant ministries and agencies from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan as well as the CSTO Secretariat participated in the event, according to the CSTO press center.
As part of the CSTO joint operational-strategic doctrine, dubbed Combat Brotherhood-2023, a number of war games will be conducted this year in the CSTO areas of responsibility.
Thus, it is planned to carry out a joint business game with use of technical opportunities of the CSTO Crisis Response Center and control points of the national bodies of the CSTO member nations. The event will bring together representatives of the CSTO Secretariat, the CSTO United Staff, and task forces of relevant ministries and agencies (foreign ministry, defense ministry, interior ministry, security services, drug control agencies, emergency management agencies and others) of the CSTO member nations.
Besides, joint military exercises, dubbed Vzaimodeystviye-2023 (Interaction-2023), Poisk-2023 (Search-2023) and Eshelon-2023 (Echelon-2023), and special exercises, dubbed Baryer-2023 (Barrier-2023) for chemical protection and medical units and Skala-2023 (Rock-2023) for emergency management units attached to the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force, will take place in Belarus.
A military exercise, dubbed Indestructible Brotherhood-2023 for the CSTO Peacekeeping Force, will be conducted this year in the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
In 2021, Echelon, Search and Interaction military exercises took place in Tajikistan and in 2022, these exercises were conducted in Kazakhstan.
The CSTO United Staff is s a permanent working body of the Organization and the CSTO CMS, which is responsible for preparing proposals and implementing decisions on the CSTO military component.
Founded in 1992, the Collective Security Treaty Organization is a Russia-led military alliance currently grouping the six former Soviet republics of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
