Sughd regional police directorate says a dean and a deputy dean at the Khujand State University have been detained on suspicion of taking bribe police.

The press center of the Sughd police directorate reported on May 21 that dean of the Faculty of History and Law of the Khujand State University Ibrohim Jabborzoda and Deputy Dean of this Faculty Nourali Shukurov have been arrested on suspicion of taking bribe from students.

Nourali Shukurov was reportedly caught red-handed on May 2 when taking 1,500 somonis from a student.       

The preliminary investigation has reportedly established that Shukurov took the bribe in collusion with the dean.

Criminal proceedings against Jabborzoda and Shukurov have been instituted under the provisions of Article 319 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – bribery; an investigation is under way.
