Tajikistan, Iran to expand security cooperation

Iranian media reports say the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Tajikistan discussed issues related to expansion of the bilateral security cooperation. 

Iranian media outlets Iran Press and Farda report visiting First Deputy Interior Minister of Tajikistan Abduramon Alamshozoda on June 13 met in Tehran with Iran’s Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi.

The parties reportedly discussed a number of issues related to fight against terrorism, narcotics, terrorist activities, exchange of prisoners, and training of Tajik police forces by Iran. 

On the same day, Tajik First Deputy Interior Minister met in Tehran with Majid Mir-Ahmadi, Iran's Deputy Interior Minister for Security and Law Enforcement Affairs to discuss a number of issues being of mutual concern. 

Mir-Ahmadi reportedly noted during the meeting that economic exchanges between Iran and Tajikistan have increased more than five times compared to the last two years.
