A government session, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, took place in Dushanbe on June 29.

The Tajik president’s official website says the meeting heard a report by Director of the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation Zafarbek Davlatzoda on the investment program to provide the Agency’s pumping stations with modern energy-saving equipment.

Davlatzoda noted that the investment program designed for 2023-2027 aims at promoting the goals of the country’s National Development Strategy Program for the period up to 2030 (NDS-2030), the plan of actions on the National Water Sector Reform Program (2016–2025) and other sectoral acts on reconstruction and rehabilitation of the irrigation infrastructure.

The program reportedly also provides for preventing risks of withdrawal of lands from circulation and installing modern energy-saving equipment at the pumping stations.

Emomali Rahmon instructed to endorse the Investment Program.  He also instructed the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation to take necessary measures jointly with local authorities to ensure the implementation of this program and attraction of investments.

The meeting participants also discussed a number of bills on making amendments to the country’s laws on prosecutor’s offices, education, higher and post-graduate vocational education, and the National bank of Tajikistan.

Besides, they discussed the strategy of regulation of migration processes in the country for the period up to 2040, the juvenile justice system reform program designed for 2023-2027 and the results of the public quantitative accounting of lands of Nurek City as of January 1, 2022.
