Tajik athletes will take part in 18 sports out of 40 announced in the program of the Asian Games, which will start on September 23, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan Dilshod Nazarov told “Asia-Plus”.

Most of the federations of Tajikistan have already published the national teams in their sports, including judo, boxing, jiu-jitsu, etc.

So, the Tajik national boxing team included 13 athletes, this is the first time when the team goes to the Asian Games in full kit – in all 13 weight categories.

According to Dilshod Nazarov, in the last games, which were held in Indonesia in 2018, Tajik athletes won 7 medals, one of them – silver, he won himself.

"Due to insufficient preparation, I missed out on gold then," the Olympic champion recalled. – This time, I hope our athletes will have more medals, including gold ones."

The NOC of Tajikistan is counting on the successful performance of boxers, judoists and wrestlers. The fact is that there are athletes in these federations who achieve high results at world competitions.

Representatives of such sports as swimming, athletics, archery, kayaking and canoeing, jiu-jitsu, taekwondo WT, karate-do, wushu, kurash, bullet shooting, beach volleyball, tennis and table tennis also go to Hangzhou.

For the first time, the national teams of Tajikistan in esports and break dancing will be represented on the international arena.

The 2023 Asian Games will be held in Chinese city of Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8. 481 sets of medals in 40 sports will be played in them.
