Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali has filed a request with the Agency for Finance State Control and Combating Corruption for the review of financial activities of the Dushanbe administration.

According to the Dushanbe administration press center, the request has been made for the purpose of “providing transparency and targeted use of allocated budgetary funds.”

This time, Rustam Emomali has reportedly asked the anticorruption agency to review the administration’s financial activities carried out in 2023.

Recall, Rustam Emomali has filed the same request with the anticorruption agency since 2018.  However,  neither the mayor's office nor the anticorruption agency published the results of those inspections.

President Emomali Rahmon appointed his son Rustam Emomali as mayor of Dushanbe on January 12, 2017, when he was 29 years old.  Rustam Emomali replaced Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, who had served as mayor of Dushanbe for 19 years.
