Prior to his appointment as Chairman of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) on January 16, 2024, Alijon Salimzoda, 44, had served as Deputy Head of the National Bank of Tajikistan since August 17, 2022. 

From 2020 to August 17, 2022, Salimzoda served as Director of the NBT Department щf Cash Circulation and Cash Operations. 

From 2010 to 2020, Alijon Salimzoda served as deputy head and then head of the NBT’s regional branch in the city of Bokhtar, the capital of Khatlon province.        

From 2002 to 2009, Salimzoda served as leading specialist of the NBT Directorate of Banking Supervision and Licensing. 

Alijon Salimzoda was born in Tajikistan on January 22, 1980.  He graduated from the Tajik National University and the Moscow International University with a degree in “Finance and Credit”.   

Alijon Salimzoda is reportedly fluent in Russian and English.

Salimzoda is married with four children.

The State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) The Savings Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan “Amonatbonk” is the only state-owned bank in the country. 

It is one of the oldest in Tajikistan (established in 1925) and one of the largest based upon various criteria – including the number of branches and the number of served clients.

The institution is unique in its orientation towards implementing social, pension and other state programs.  Amonatbonk has 5 regional centers, more than 70 branches and nearly 500 agencies. This gives the institution a presence in the most remote mountainous parts of the country.
