The taxi driver sustained more than 5 stab wounds after informing the passenger of the fare. Dushanbe police are conducting an investigation into the case of the taxi driver who was assaulted with a knife, as reported in the Interior Ministry of the capital.
They noted that a criminal case has been opened in this regard, and measures are being taken to apprehend the suspect. The identity of the assailant has been established, but the details are not disclosed by the Interior Ministry.
The department emphasized that the final decision on pressing charges will be made after the apprehension of the suspect and clarification of all circumstances of the incident. According to the information from the "Faraj" edition, 23-year-old taxi driver Ziyoviddin Bekov from the "Yak taxi" company was attacked on January 15 while working in the "Yakkachinor" district of the capital. This information was provided to the publication by the victim's father.
According to him, on that morning, Ziyoviddin picked up a client on "Khayoti Nav" street near the "Bokhtariyon" restaurant. Initially, he took the client to "Romsar" and then to "Yakkachinor." When the client asked to stop, the taxi driver reported that the fare according to the meter was 37 somoni. In response, the man sitting in the back suddenly attacked him with a knife, delivering 5 blows to the right side of the neck. The taxi driver also suffered injuries to both arms while trying to defend himself.
The assailant left the car and fled. Bystanders called an ambulance, and the victim was taken to the "Kara Bolo" hospital. After surgery and two days in the intensive care unit, followed by another 8 days of treatment in a general ward, Ziyoviddin was discharged home.
As a result of the attack, due to a severed carotid artery, Ziyoviddin's right eye and hand are paralyzed. His father mentioned that Ziyoviddin is the only son in the family, and now significant funds are needed for his treatment. Therefore, the family is considering the possibility of selling the apartment they live in.
