By government’s decree about 160 mosaics on buildings in Tashkent and regions have been put on the national list of tangible cultural heritage as public art monuments.

Kun.uz says the purpose of supplementing the list is to promote comprehensive studying, preserving and properly using mosaics, panels and works of fine art as well as increasing their role in the development of the country’s tourism potential.

The mosaics put on the list will be entered into the state cadaster.  A record will be added to the cadastral documents of the objects indicating that they are of cultural value.

According to Kun.uz, most of the mosaics put on the list are from Tashkent.  There are also mosaics from Nukus, Urgench, Khiva, Samarkand, Namangan, Andijan, Jizakh, Kokand, Angren, Gulistan and some other regions.

All over the world, the art of monumental mosaic is cherished and studied: mosaic panels that were previously perceived as something ordinary and not worthy of attention, today for many in Dushanbe they are points of attraction.

Thus, the mosaic on the façade of the former building of Safina TV Channel will be preserved and installed in a new location.

The fate of the historical building of the former Philharmonic Society, in which Safina TV Channel was located in recent years, and the possible loss of a unique mosaic that decorated the facade of the building caused heated discussions among Dushanbe residents.

This stone mosaic was made by known Tajik artist Asror Aminjanov.

Many users of social networks expressed concern about this in numerous posts.  Emotions intensified after they began to surround the building with a construction fence and it was announced that a new modern business center will be constructed on the site of the building.

Taking into account that the stone mosaic on the façade of that building is one of the most famous in the city, Dushanbe mayor has decided to preserve this historical mosaic for future generations.  This task was entrusted to the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) TGEM Company, which will erect a new building on the site of the former building of Safina TV Channel.
