On Friday April 5, President Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Public Security of China, Mr. Wang Xiaohong, who is also the member of the State Council of China.

The Tajik president’s official website says the parties discussed state and prospects of further expansion of the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China.

The parties, in particular, discussed issues related to combating global threats such as terrorism, extremism, manifestations of radicalism, separatism, transnational organized crime, drug trafficking and cybercrime. 

It was reportedly considered important that the relevant ministries and agencies structures of the two countries, taking into account the unstable international situation and the need to ensure peace and stability, strengthen coordination and practical cooperation. 

In the course of the talks, Rahmon and Wang also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest, including the current situation in Afghanistan and its impact on the region. 

Emomali Rahmon reportedly expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of relations of friendship and fruitful cooperation between Tajikistan and China.

Mr. Wang Xiaohong (born July 11, 1957) is a Chinese politician who has been serving as the Minister of Public Security of China since June 2022 and State Councilor of China since March 2023.

Established in 1949, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) is a government ministry of the People's Republic of China responsible for public and political security.  It oversees more than 1.9 million of the country's law enforcement officers and as such the vast majority of the People's Police.
