Over the first six months of this year, the prosecutor’s office of the Kulob military garrison has instituted three criminal proceedings against military recruitment officers, the Kulob military prosecutor Firouz Rajabzoda told reporters in Kulob yesterday.

According to him, criminal proceedings against Warrant Officer Firouz Yaqubov from the Danghara military registration and enlistment office, Captain Ahliddin Asomiddinov from the Temourmalik military registration and enlistment office, and Major S. Davlatov from the Vose military registration and enlistment office have been instituted under the provisions of Article 391 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code — abuse of power or position, abuse of official authority or inaction authorities.

If convicted, they could face a fine in the amount of 250 to 912 calculating indicators (estimates) of up to five years in prison.  The current calculating indicator in Tajikistan amounts to 72.00 somonis.

Meanwhile, the deputy prosecutor of Khatlon province told reporters in Kulob that over the same six-month period, seven criminal proceedings have been instituted against local officials under the provisions of Article 247 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – fraud.

“Investigation into their cases has already been completed and they will move to a court soon,” the prosecutor said

It is to be noted that criminal proceedings have been instituted mostly against of jamoats (the third-level administrative division, similar to communes or municipalities).
