In the first half of 2024, the Prosecutor's Office of Tajikistan identified 138 cases of obstruction of children's compulsory general education.

There were also 230 cases of illegal religious education "involving 329 people, including 177 minors." This was reported to journalists by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Tatarstan Yusuf Rakhmon.

In JanuaryJune, 1,100 administrative cases were initiated for violating the law "On the Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and rituals in the Republic of Tatarstan" and 3,089 cases for violating the norms of the law "On Parental Responsibility for education and upbringing of children".

There is more responsibility

Earlier, large fines were imposed in Tajikistan for violating the law on the regulation of traditions. Amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences have entered into force, providing for fines of up to 100 thousand somoni for violations of these norms.

The country has also updated the law on child rearing, now known as the law on Responsibility for Education and Upbringing of Children. He clarifies the concepts of "education", "upbringing" and "persons replacing parents". This helps to clearly define the responsibilities of all participants in the educational process, including parents, teachers and government agencies.

New articles have been introduced into the law against extremism, violence and discrimination against children.

Measures have been introduced to prevent discrimination and exclusion from the educational process based on race, nationality, religion or social affiliation, as well as special attention is paid to children with special needs and in difficult social situations.

According to the latest amendments to article 90 of the Code of Administrative Violations, if a child skips school and the absences amount to more than fifty hours of study per quarter, the fine ranges from 10 to 12 indicators for calculations (from 720 to 864 somoni).
