Within the Integrated Rural Development Project/ TRIGGER, the EU in cooperation with other development partners supported the third two-day International Scientific and Practical Conference Festival – Exhibition "Current problems of the development of the Hissor sheep breed".

This conference is being organized for the third time on the initiative of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Tajik Academy of Agricultural Sciences. More than 120 participants, including scientists, specialists and experts from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, etc. took part in conference.

The purpose of the international event is to develop sheep breeding, improve breeding activities and preserve the Hissor breed as a national genetic fund of the Tajik people's patrimony.

The official and plenary session was held at the Hyatt Hotel, where participants discussed the development of the Hissor breed of sheep, as well as held a discussion and shared opinions with scientists and experts in the field of sheep breeding.

The second day of the conference was held in Hissor, where the participants were familiarized with the achievements of agriculture and the successes of scientists in the field of sheep breeding. In addition, participants and guests were shown the selection of breeding Hissor breeds such as "Shahrinav", "Parkhar" and "Hissor" types in Shurobi Iskandar village of Hissor. At the end of the event, the winners of the competition were awarded in different nominations.  

It is important to note that the distinctive features of Hissor sheep breed are of strong constitution, have well-developed backs, widely set strong legs with strong hooves, and a very strong productivity.

The Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP)/ Towards Rural Inclusive Growth and Economic Resilience (TRIGGER) is a joint project of the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to boost the added value of agricultural production in Tajikistan by improving water security and sustainability, enhancing the productivity of selected value chains, supporting market development, export readiness, enterprise promotion and economic policy advice.
