Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov signed a decree banning the increase in salaries of civil servants in the period from 2024 to 2026. According to “Fergana”, the document was published in the government newspaper “Erkin Too”.

It was noted that the head of state made such a decision in order to optimize the expenses of the republican budget.

The decree introduced a moratorium on salary increases for employees of government departments, committees, authorized representatives of the president in the regions, as well as officials from local administrations. In addition, until 2026, there will be a ban on expanding the staff of government agencies in the country.

At the same time, a reservation is made that in special cases restrictions can be lifted. But changes in the number of employees of any department and salary increases for officials will be carried out only on the basis of a special decision of the head of the republic.

On September 5, Zhaparov issued a document on the release of all assistants and advisers who performed their duties on a voluntary basis. It was noted that this decision was made as part of the reform of the presidential administration and improvement of the management system.

Earlier, in August 2022, Kyrgyz officials received an official salary increase. Thus, the heads of the department of the ministry began to receive about 68 thousand soms ($800), and the leading specialists of the departments – over 49 thousand soms ($580).

These figures are higher than the national average salaries recorded in the first quarter of this year, which amount to about 34 thousand soms ($400).
