The Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan has issued a warning about a high risk of mudslides in mountainous regions.

According to meteorologists, heavy rainfall is expected in the coming days in the mountainous and foothill areas of Tajikistan, as well as in the western part of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). These rains could significantly raise water levels in mountain rivers and small streams, potentially leading to flooding of low-lying areas, agricultural land, and road sections, while also posing a threat to low-water bridges.

In light of this, the Emergencies Committee urges citizens to take safety precautions, advising against hiking, hunting, grazing livestock, or collecting firewood in mountainous areas.

Special attention should be paid to children, ensuring they are not left unsupervised.  Additionally, the Emergencies Committee recommends avoiding proximity to bodies of water and refraining from fishing during this period.  To prevent street and home flooding, residents are also encouraged to clear irrigation ditches and canals near their homes.

Meanwhile, the Hydrometeorological Center (Hydromet) has reported that there will be no significant temperature changes until the end of the week.

However, starting from October 22, a temperature drop of about five degrees is expected.  The agency also noted that it is too early to predict the weather for the remainder of the month, as conditions are constantly changing.
