During his working visit to the city of Tursunzoda, President Emomali Rahmon inaugurated a number of social and economic facilities there today, according to Tajik president’s official website.

At first, he attended an official opening ceremony of  new building of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office in the city.  The construction of the building, which reportedly houses seven apartments for officers, library, conference hall, kitchen and gym with autonomous coal heating, began in 2022.        

President Emomali Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali then inaugurated a number of additional buildings of local lyceum, including dormitory, education building to accommodate  240 students, conference hall and medical center.  The dormitory reportedly has a capacity of 400 people.

Besides,  the head of state inaugurated online four high schools to accommodate a total of 3,500 students and two preschool institutions to accommodate a total of 650 children.  

After that, Emomali Rahmon visited the dehqon (peasant) farm “Ghairat 2020” in the village named after Joura Rahmon, which was established by local entrepreneur Urunboy Nourmatov.

In this village, the president inaugurated a new refrigerated warehouse with a capacity of 2000 tons for storing fruits and vegetables  

Emomali Rahmon reportedly noted the significance of such initiatives and called for increasing the number of modern refrigerated warehouse in the country that will help reduce losses of agricultural products and provide the domestic market with fresh products.  

It was noted that the farming unit also has the refrigerated warehouse with a capacity of 24,000 tons.  

The farm has 22 hectares of land for cultivation of six varieties of grapes with a total harvest of more than 600 tons per year.  

The farm also has a greenhouse with an area of ​​54 square meters, in which drip irrigation technologies are used.  Last year, farmers reportedly yielded 35 tons of tomatoes and 70 tons of cucumbers.  

Urunboy Nourmatov reportedly financed construction of modern school, wellness center and 1.5 kilometers of rural road.  He also plans to launch a plant for processing fruits and vegetables.

After the inauguration of the refrigerated warehouse, the head of state got acquainted with operations of Nigora Limited Liability Company Nigora, which produces bricks and plastic pipes. 

The president’s official website says four new industrial enterprises are expected to be built in Tursunzoda within the next two years.   

Tursunzoda  is a city in western Tajikistan, known for its aluminum smelting plant TadAZ. It is located 60 km west of Dushanbe (40 km west of  Hisor), near the border with Uzbekistan.  As of 2020, its population was estimated at 55,700 for the city proper and 298,800 for the city with the outlying communities.  Its population was given as 40,600 in the 1989 census, falling to 39,000 in 2000, and estimated at 37,000 in 2006.
