The chief prosecutor in Sughd province, Furqat Khojazoda, has called for increased oversight of school students, particularly in restricting schoolchildren’s access to films promoting violence and obscenity.

On October 28, he held a meeting in the Mastchoh district with local administrators, religious leaders, organization heads, teachers, and village council leaders.  He reportedly emphasized the importance of “constant and strict control” over student discipline and urged efforts to combat illegal religious education.

The meeting also addressed topics such as youth employment, prevention of negative behaviors, adherence to land use laws, combating superstitions, and preventing youth involvement in extremist organizations.

Mr. Khojazoda stressed that cooperation between law enforcement agencies, government authorities, and local communities is essential for crime prevention.

The prosecutor's directives align with recent statements by President Emomali Rahmon, who has called for stricter monitoring of school attendance among both students and teachers and expressed concern over disciplinary issues in schools.

On September 1, Rahmon highlighted absenteeism among students and teachers as a serious problem within the education system, calling for an immediate resolution and urging law enforcement to avoid interfering in school affairs without significant cause.

On October 29, Rahmon reiterated these concerns in a meeting with law enforcement officials, noting that despite his directives, the situation remains unsatisfactory.
