As part of his working trip to Khatlon province, President Emomali Rahmon on November 8 inaugurated several important facilities in Khatlon’s capital, Bokhtar, which will play a key role in regional development and improving the living conditions of the population, the presidential press service reports, the Tajik president’s official website says.

First, a Vocational Training and Service Center was put into commission.  Operating under the Agency for Labor and Employment, the Center was constructed under support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The Center reportedly offers training in various trades, such as welding, electrical work, and plumbing, as well as foreign language courses.

Equipped with modern classrooms and workshops, the Center is expected to train up to 2,400 people annually.  The president emphasized the importance of establishing such educational institutions nationwide to prepare qualified specialists.

A new administrative building for the Statistics Agency was also put into commission in Bokhtar on Friday.  The building, with an area of 834.5 square meters, is equipped with modern facilities and will improve the efficiency of statistical services in the region.

In Bokhtar, a facility for the production of galvanized roofing materials was introduced into operation on the same day.  This factory, built by local entrepreneur Habibullo Muqimov, covers an area of 3,000 square meters and was constructed at a cost of 5.4 million somonis.  It will produce over 3,000 meters of metal roofing materials per month, creating more than 20 new jobs, thus reducing import dependency and supporting local industry.  Production increases are expected to cut imports of such goods by 40%.

Additionally, a modern cold storage facility with a 600-ton capacity for year-round storage of agricultural products was opened on the factory grounds.

Another facility introduced into operation in Bokhtar was the "Rasouli Vali" match factory.  Covering an area of 10,000 square meters and outfitted with modern German equipment, the plant reportedly uses partially imported raw materials.  It can produce 300 boxes of matches daily and up to 100,000 boxes annually.  The factory employs 40 local residents, most of whom are women, and was built with investments totaling 2 million somonis.
