As part of police operation, dubbed "Knife," officers of police station 1 in Dushanbe’s Sino district have detained several individuals involved in the illegal circulation of weapons in two days, press release issued by the Dushanbe Police Directorate said on November 17.

One detainee, 43-year-old Bakhtiyor Emomov, was reportedly selling metal hatchets to minors.  Besides, a search of his home reportedly uncovered several such items.

Another detainee was a 16-year-old, R. Sh., from whom a metal hatchet was confiscated.  It was revealed that the teenager actively shared photos of himself with weapons on social media and is suspected of involvement in several thefts.

Officers from police station 2 in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district have reportedly detained a 15-year-old resident, D. A., who was carrying a hatchet.  He reportedly took photos with the hatchet for self-promotion and posted them on social media.  A preventive conversation was held with his parents.

Additionally, 27-year-old Sulaimon Numonzoda has been detained with a small knife used as a weapon.

A few days earlier, teenagers in Dushanbe had posted photos of themselves holding knives on social media, leading to their detention by police. Their Instagram and Telegram accounts regularly featured photos and videos showcasing knives.

Law enforcement officials believe such content is unethical, as it negatively influences the mindset of other teenagers.

It is worth noting that Dushanbe police regularly conduct Operation "Knife," aimed at confiscating bladed weapons, especially among young people. The operation helps prevent street conflicts and ensures public safety in the city.

Operation "Knife" has been carried out in Dushanbe since 2019 to identify and remove from the population, especially from young people, bladed weapons: knives, brass knuckles, stun guns, bits, etc.
