During Tajik President Emomali Rahmon's official visit to Kuwait in early November, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the governments of Tajikistan and Kuwait was signed.  The document pertains to the regulation of labor migration processes for Tajik citizens to Kuwait.

 

Key provisions

An official source within the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Population (MoLMEP) of Tajikistan has explained the key provisions and objectives of the memorandum.

He notes that according to the memorandum, labor migrants from Tajikistan will work in Kuwait under individual employment contracts governed by the labor laws of Kuwait.

The document reportedly aims to simplify requirements and procedures for cooperation in labor migration between the two countries within the framework of existing legal norms.

 

Objectives and conditions of the memorandum

The main goal of the document is to strengthen cooperation in labor, employment, and workforce development.

It reportedly emphasizes the importance of protecting the rights of foreign workers employed in the private sector in accordance with the legislation of both countries.

The main working conditions, as well as the rights and obligations of employers and employees, will be determined and implemented in accordance with Kuwaiti labor laws.
