The inauguration ceremony for the administrative building of the National Training Center for Tajikistan's Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan was held In the Qaratogh Gorge in the Shahrinav district, about 50 kilometers to the west of Dushanbe, on November 23.

According to the Emergencies Committee, the rescue training center spans 28 hectares in the gorge.  While the training ground is still under construction (currently in the second phase of development), it will eventually include educational, administrative, and residential buildings, a cafeteria, a sports hall, a stadium, as well as training and modular complexes.

At present, the office building for rescuers and a medical point have been opened.

During the ceremony, which was attended by Emergencies Committee head Rustam Nazarzoda, specialized equipment, an ambulance, and a vehicle for neutralizing mines were handed over to the rescuers.

These were procured as part of a joint Emergencies Committee project with the World Bank and with support from development partners, including the OSCE and TIKA.

“The National Training Ground is a unique specialized facility designed in accordance with modern standards and regional specifics, providing comprehensive practical training for emergency response units at the highest level,” the Emergencies Committee noted.

At the training ground, rescuers will test new equipment and gear, practice the latest rescue technologies for various emergencies, and refine tactical actions during emergency response operations.

Once the training ground is fully operational, it is planned to conduct training for rescuers from other countries in the region and hold international rescue drills, according to the Emergencies Committee.
